Which type of website you need?

Today am going to share my experience in building a website. The title  "How to build a website???" might seems to be childish since today even a small child can build a website .

But am sharing something different.

For an individual or company, they can either choose a static or dynamic website.




What is a Static Website??

A static website is something built using HTML . This type of sites can be used by individuals for displaying their information, resume, portfolio etc. This can also be used by companies if they just need to display their information only. Here is an example for static website http://www.sabinehospital.com/.

If you inspect this site it shows HTML contents only. All pages are designed individually and are integrated and interlinked together.

For setting up this type of websites , the server requirements are too low. You just need a domain and a server space. Here in India normally individual web developers charge 53.82 USD to a maximum of 89.70 USD. But it varies according to the additions you specify. HTML is so easy that everyone can easily understand it. But am talking about those who does not have time to invest.


What is a Dynamic Website??

Ok now lets see how a dynamic websites look like. For that Please see http://www.riorttechnologies.com/. This is a dynamic website built using PHP.

The dynamic website  means the datas are loaded dynamically. ie data stored in the database are loaded dynamically and delivered to assigned pages. Using dynamic websites author can edit his details by himself through an editing interface and save. It will change the corresponding data on  a particular page. But in the case of static websites , it wont be possible. You need to dig  into the html code to find the corresponding content and change it there.

For creating dynamic websites , we developers charge more than static websites.

So in my opinion if your contents are changing frequently , it is better to use a dynamic website. And for those whose content changes only sometimes , it is enough to use static website.

But i would recommend using a dynamic website , because you dont need to look for designers or developers again for a small editing on your content. In both cases if you are doing a big change, say changing the look and feel then surely you need the help of web designer.


Different types of dynamic websites

There are many types of dynamic websites. Blog ,Forum , E-commerce , Social Networking etc

It is upto you to decide which type you need.

Suppose you want to run a website for e commerce purpose eg:- http://www.troymusic.com.au/, you can go for magento,os commerce, zen cart etc.

Or if you need to run a forum based site , you can go for Vbulletin,PhpBB etc

Or to run a basic website or blog you can use wordpress, drupal, joomla etc.
